WINTLE of Westbury Rodley Stantway Cowley Elm (General)

Wintle name probably means 'People of the windy hill'.

Wintle's Hill, on the A48 trunk road, is part of the hilly ground, which runs down from Chaxhill /Stantway into Westbury-on-Severn, Gloucestershire.
This probably goes back to the time when the Wintles held Stantway Court.

More recently ( 1920's) Martin Wintle from Bristol owned Court Farm Rodley.
