Edward WATKINS 1843 East Dean - Lancashire (General)

am trying to go 'beyond' Edward, info I have is he was son of Benjamin who was son of William. There is confusion in that I cannot establish positive links via Parish Records either to names of people or names of parishes and the old problem of spelling of names (Watkins and Walkins) adds to my confusion. I say mine in the hope that someone can point me right, have plenty from Edward down to present, indeed 'they' are growing by the day in numbers and locations, Canada becoming more prominent lately. Thanks in anticipation.
