My Memoirs by Tom Shaw, born 1915 Coleford (General)

I have just read Tom Shaw's memoirs and remember some of the things he recalls.My father was a miner from about 1910 till 1960 and many are the times I washed Dad's back when Mum was busy cooking our meal.I still remember in the early mornings when the miners went past our house with their hobnailed boots crunching on the roads,they do say that in the darker months you could see the sparks fly but I was usually too sleepy to witness that sight.
