The Chase, Woolaston, Lydney, Gloucestershire
£450000
For sale by public auction by Knight Frank and Newland Rennie Wilkins. A rare opportunity to acquire a country house with outbuildings all in need of total renovation. In all about 23.5 acres.

Situated in the middle of its mature parklike grounds and surrounded by rolling countryside, Fir Grove dates back to the early 18th Century but with a grander extension probably added in the early 1800's. The main house is built largely of stone, part-rendered and has a southern outlook over its gardens and land. Internally there are some good reception rooms with the expected period features though it is very much in a state of disrepair. Attached to the house and forming the east wing is a stone barn with cart yard beneath having the original stone arches. Across the yard lies the stone wash house, whilst a separate stone stable block is someway behind the house. The gardens are overgrown but at one time were believed to be of an equal to the imposing facade of the house. The original tennis court is beyond. The grounds comprise of five large enclosures and are dotted with a rich variety of mature trees.
