BRAINS GREEN, Nr. BLAKENEY
{SUN} GL15 4AJ
Brains Green is an isolated hamlet on the road leading from Blakeney to Soudley. The Littledean Petty Sessions of August 1897 as reported in the Forest of Dean Mercury: 'Henry Playsted, landlord of an off-beerhouse at Brains Green, Blakeney, was fined £10 and costs, on the 18th June 1886, for selling intoxicating liquor to be consumed on his off-licence premises. The circumstances of this case were of a bad character, inasmuch as the men who purchased and consumed the liquor were found by the police in a helpless state of inebriation.’
