Susannah Crump was my ggg grandmother. She was married to William Watkins, who was born about 1818. Their son, also William was born in Westbury on Severn and his birth was registered by the Master of the Wetsbury Union Workhouse in Aug 1843, although his birthdate on the certificate, is given as 24 May 1843. I would love to find out from the workhouse ledgers why they were in the workhouse. I understand these are at the Gloucester Record Office. There are several William Watkin's mentioned in criminal records lists so I wonder if William senior spent time in prison, which would explain why in the 1841 census he is not with Susannah.
Their son, William Watkins junior moved to Newport Mon as did another of their sons, Samuel, who was born in 1848. Both married there and raised families.
I am pleased to have been able to take my family back another generation, by seeing your posting about John and Mary Crump
