I agree with Chris on this one. It’s an abbreviation for Jonathan/Jonathon etc.

There are these baptisms recorded at Westbury and they seem to make a family,

18 Jan 1699/1700, Rich the son of Jonath WINTLE and Sarah
Ancestry transcribes the name as Jonase
FODFHT as Jonah
I read it as Jonath

8 Dec 1701, Abigall the daughter of Jonath WINTLE and Sarah
Ancestry as Jonath
FODFHT as Jonathon
I read it as Jonath

18 Jan 1704/1705, John the son of Jonathan WINTLE and Sarah
Ancestry as Jonathan
FODFHT as Jonathon
I read it as Jonathan

28 May 1706, Jonathan the son of Jonath WINTLE and Sarah
Ancestry as Jonath
FODFHT as Jonath[an?]
I read it as Jonath

There is enough doubt on the Ancestry PR images to allow for all of these transcriptions. In general the scribe uses abbreviations even when there would be enough room for the full name.
