Not sure about 1891 and 1901 but this for 1911?

12(?) years the marriage, 11 children, 5 alive, 6 died.
5 rooms in the house.

This looks like the same family you found in the 1871 Census ?.

FreeBMD births for Monmouth are as follows, the name isn't as common as I'd first suspected with only one born c1865, which rather confirms the above baptism is indeed our Edwin.

Searched FreeBMD using various spellings names I cannot see Edwin & Esther's marriage, odd !!??

Cannot find any mnore records for him, which is odd, given that Clarence is a rare name compared to, say, the numerous David Charles Lewis' etc.

There are several "Catherine M" born in the South Wales area at this time, vast majority are May and Mary.
However this matches Phil's name, and the most likely if still in Pontypool;
