Gloucester Cathedral (General)

Hello. I have discovered that some ancestors married in Gloucester Cathedral. Neither would have been local to Cathedral but were from Gloucestershire. Can anyone let me know if a connection to the Cathedral would have been required to marry there? Thanks Ceri
