Hi again Cherryl,

I think I may have been hasty. My Scrivens are the ones in West Dean. I do know myggrandfather was William Henry, b abt 1860 English Bicknor. In fact, this is the only place I've seen Joyford mentioned. I'm pretty sure he was illegitimate - but I think his mother was Anne Scrivens, b English Bicknor 25th May 1834. I have been told he had a sister, but have no details. My source for Anne's details is the SaltLake City mormon site. According to their records, Anne seems to be the only child of Sarah and Josiah Scrivens, married 1829. That doesn't quite tally with the data given on F-of Dean site. Could this this Anne and yours be the same one?I have no reference to her being married - no father's name for William. And she would have been 26 at the time of his birth. She might have got married later. Do you have any more details about your Anne like date of her marriage?

Bye for now,
Alison.
