Ruardean Congregational Chapel Records (Parish Records)

It appears that the Ruardean Independent Chapel and the Ruardean Congregational Chapel are one and the same, originally being known as Independent and later as Congregational. We therefore need to list both of these sets of records under the same name for practical reasons.

The Ruardean Independent records have now been renamed to Ruardean Congregational so there is a common name for both.

I have also added to the website database the Ruardean Congregational Burials 1811-1907 which only contain a partial list of the burials, these details were taken from the gravestones. You can read more about this in a posting on the forum.

Other than the burial records, we have the following Ruardean Congregational records on the website.

Baptisms: 1795-1836
Marriages: 1926-1935

The only surviving burial records for Ruardean Congregational are 1802-1837 which we intend to have transcribed in the future and then amalgamated with the gravestone transcripts. May Brace has informed us that she will photograph the gravestones in the spring and possibly we will obtain some more information by her doing this.

Hello David

Is it also possible to merge Coleford Independent with Coleford Congregational as these are also one and the same.

best wishes...Gill Webb

Gill

Thanks for pointing that out. All the 'Coleford Independent' records have now been renamed as 'Coleford Congregational'.

In checking any similar situations, I noticed that we also had 'West Dean Methodist' and 'West Dean Methodist Circuit'. These are all now listed as West Dean Methodist Circuit'.
