My Gt Grandmother was an Anne Trafford, daughter of Tom Trafford (B. 1838 in Cinderford) and Sarah Davies. Tom was the son of John Trafford and Anne James. Tom and Sarah had several children namely Thomas, Henry, Harriet, Alice, Levi, John, and William. Is there anybody out there who is a descendant of any of the above mentioned. Hi my name is Linda Towning; my mother was the daughter of an Annie Trafford, who was the daughter of (I believe) Levi Trafford from The Forest of Dean. Annie and her sister moved to London to go into service. I think Levi Trafford was something to with the mining industry. I don't know much else.

Definitely sure this is her first husband, father of Samuel Edwards; he died quite young and Annie remarried John (I think) Roper; my mother's name was Nellie Roper.

My great grandfather was Levi Trafford. He married Eliza Baggs and their daughter Mabel was my paternal grandmother (she went on to marry William John Bennett). I have only just started to delve into the family history so this is all new to me but I am finding it fascinating. My father (Don Bennett - son of william and mabel) immigrated to Australia when I was 6yrs old so my english heritage is a little foreign to me.

Hi Sue,

I have just seen your post regarding descendants of Tom Trafford.

My maternal grandmother was Annie Trafford, whose parents were Levi and Eliza.
I think she was most probably your relatives sister.
Annie married Ernest Albert Edwards in 1909,in Cinderford, sadly Ernest died quite young from TB, as far as i remember my mother saying.
Annie then remarried to to my mothers father whose name was Roper ( not too sure of the christian name my sister thinks it's John ).
He also died quite young from TB.
Annie then remarried for a third time to a Mr Mills ( C Name ? ), who again died early, i think she gave up on men then as being unreliable.:-)
Annie died in 1946 at the age of 61.

My mothers name was Nellie Rosina Anne Raggett ( formely Roper ), who passed away in 2006, coincidentally just after we landed in Sydney, which resulted in a mad dash back to the UK.

That's as far as i have got so far, if you want any more info. sending i will be pleased to do so as and when i find it.
Likewise i would be pleased to hear your story.
I have retired now and have just got interested in the family history, but it seems to turn up more questions than answers.

I will explain a bit more should you be interested.

My maternal grandmother was Annie Trafford and her fathers name was Levi and his wifes name was Eliza .
Levi was born in 1857 and Sarah 1857
Any help would be most grateful.
They lived on Church Street FOD.
Levi and Eliza just show one child , Thersa.on the 1881 census
To confuse matters I found reference to a Levi Trafford married to Sarah, they show as having 6 children, Harriet, John, Thersa, Thomas, Tom, and William.
Sarah was shown to be born 1842 and Levi 1857.
Is this Levi remarrying ?.
This family also lived in Church Street FOD.
