Others: Emma Thomas 25 niece b Chepstow, Helen Green serv. 19 b Newent & Hannah Green 47 visitor b Newent.

1861 Census: High Street Seams? Inn
John Jones 50 Stone Mason & Inn Keeper, Elizabeth 46, William 23, Jane Elizabeth 20, John 18 Stone Mason, James 15, Harriet 13,George 11, Mahala Ann 8
(Mary Sophia married James Wilkes 1 May 1855 Gloucester my great grandparents)

Found Emma R 1871 servant to Assistant Curate Newton Bennett.
Have baptisms for Mary & William at Chepstow & some of the children at Little Dean .
Unable to locate John & Elizabeth 1871 Did they die & if so burial records Little Dean?

The inn mentioned in the 1861 census is the Swan. It is now a house as is the Bell Inn.My gt grandfather was William Jones and I am having difficulty finding the baptism of John Jones.
Do you know where his name 'Bell' comes from? It doesn't appear until the birth certificate of William in 1838.

Thanks. I had looked at that baptism.The year is right but there is still the doubt as to how he became John Bell Jones.
Maybe his mother Sophia married again and became a Jones.
