Can you tell me where Morwood is (or was). I have ancestors living there in 18000s. Many thanks

I don’t know if it’s the one but there is a Moorwood near Lower Lydbrook,

Expand the map to see it. It doesn’t seem to be indexed as it doesn’t show up on a search.

Moorwood nr Lydbrook

Agree entirely Mike, Moorwood is the hilly area many of my Dad's ancestors lived in, along with nearby addresses such as The Reddings, Horse Lea (known nowadays as Hawsley), Jays now Joys Green, Vention and so on. All overlooking the Wye between Ruardean and Lydbrook. My father was a Jones, his mother was a Taylor, I get the distinct impression that those two family names are especially common to the area so I suspect they may well appear in Jan's family trees too.

This O.S. map from 1880 shows all these place names, near the centre.

More history of the area may be found here, suggest word-search "Moorwood" etc for ease of finding.
