John Ballinger 1735-1798 in Norton. Possible parents (General)

Hi All.

I'm researching the Ballinger line of my family (they used to own the Ferrie Inn, the Symonds Yat Hotel and the Yew Tree Inn in Symonds Yat/Whitchurch area).

I've reached a stumbling block with John Ballinger b 1735 in Norton. He married Elizabeth Bessex in 1768 under licence (assuming because she was 17!!!).

I think his fathers name was William and mothers name, was Mary. I also think he had an Aunt called Mary and she married a William Shaw (John and his cousin were baptised on the same day I believe).

Does anyone know if the marriage licence is available? I've searched everywhere online and can't find anything, or does anyone know anything about John's parents/grandparents??.

Assume this is the marriage

15 December 1768
Marriage Place: Dixton Newton, Monmouth, England

Spouse: Elizabeth BESSEX

Under the Heading, Whitchurch and Ganarew Local History History :

John BALLINGER, born 1743, in Whitchurch, married Elizabeth BESSEX in Dixton in 1768

They had 6 recorded children, all born in Whitchurch

etc etc

As there are other John BALLINGER's marrying around this time to an Elizabeth :

Gloucestershireshire Wills may help (on Ancestry)

There are a number of BALLINGER's (use Soundex) residence: Norton, under Resources, Marriage Licence/Bonds etc -
