I am awaiting a response to an email and hoping that I can add info to both GWILLIAM and HAWKINS. I am fairly certain I know which families the GWILLIAM boys belong and I have written to a descendant who also has HAWKINS connections!

Cheers
Mike

After more research, I've come up with these names; Fred Hawkins, Jim Watkins, Sid Miles (capt) and Bert Hawkins. Also "Wacker" Gardner and Cae Miles (team members not pictured)...

Caleb Miles was my grandfather and Syd Miles the team captain was his older brother who was head teacher at Lydbrook school. Syd is shown in the Pathe News clip of the Duke of Kent's 1934 visit to Lydbrook.

Berry Hill V Drybrook. The Berry Hill team have joined the Gloucester Rugby Union this season, and will open their new ground at Five Acres on Saturday when Drybrook will be the visitors. The following will represent Berry -
back H. Gwilliam; threequarters, O. Gwilliam, S. Miles(capt.) C. Miles, L. Watson; halves W. Gardiner, B. Hawkins; forwards, W. Baglin, O. Smith, F. Hawkins, C. Hawkins, L. Hawkins, J. Aston, E. Baldwin (Berry Hill), E. Doane. Reserves, S. Gwilliam, G. Bennett.

April 15th 1905

Berry Hill Crescents V Cinderford Bridge On Saturday last a strong Cinderford XV played their return match at Berry Hill, when the Crescents proved superior by 1 try to nil. The game was full of dash, but there was an absence of much open play. The footwork among the home forwards was good. W. Baglin being especially smart and careful, for the outcome of one of his dribbles was a try to T.S. Gwilliam. Cinderfoord was served best at half. Mr. C. Howell, of Lydney, conducted the game with his usual ability."
