A few of the parishes in our Parish Records database have been transferred into a newly created database "Miscellaneous Parish Records". On the main Parish Records search page you will see a link to this database just under the search boxes. There is also another link to the database from the Parish Records introduction page together with a list of the parishes that are in this new database..

The reason for this change is that our Web site specialises in the Forest of Dean and nearby parishes that border on the Forest. Though in recent times to assist researchers we have included some parishes we are not within the Forest or its borders and these are the parishes we now have in the Miscellaneous Parish Records.

We also have in progress the transcribing of some marriages from parishes within the city of Gloucester which will be added to the Miscellaneous Parish Records. These Gloucester records we will have in the database will not include all the entries from these parishes, only those entries that list a place of residence as being somewhere in the Forest of Dean.

The mission of this Web site is to provide resources for researchers who have ancestors and families that lived in the Forest of Dean and its borders. I would like to emphasise that we have no intention to expand our scope outside of these areas and the only reason we have a few non Forest of Dean records is to assist our researchers who had families that moved in or out of the Forest.
