Hi Patricia

Just to add another small problem to your research, Jemima, as a single woman, had a son William John in 1868:.-
BAPTISM DETAILS:-
Record_ID: 45498 Entry_Number: 1980
Year: 1868 Month: Jul Day: 12
Parents_Surname: FROWEN
Child_Forenames: William John
Fathers_Forenames: [not stated]
Mothers_Forenames: Jemima
Mothers_Surname:
Residence: Scowles
Occupation: Single Woman
Officiating_Minister: Herbert Mather

Memoranda: Born 30 March 1867
Notes: memo in date column
Register_Reference: P227 IN 1/6

This was before she married Thomas Dobbs in 1869. So as John Henry was born 1867 your theory about her taking him in as her own sounds right or was he actually Jemima's son????.

Dave
