Ann HAWKINS Widow Age 76, born Staunton
Joshua HAWKINS, Age 35- Checkweighman - born West Dean
Thomas HAWKINS, age 31 - Colliery Labourer, born West Dean

1891 census for the same District, there are many men (Including William POWELL age 81) and boys (from 15 yrs) listed as Coal Miners. There is also a James ASTON age 65, listed as a Colliery Manager. By looking at all census returns from 1841 onwards one would get a list of coal miners living in the area - if there are no other records available.

On the 1901 Census, Wales, Monmouthshire,West Dean, Hedge End, Joshua is a Colliery Proprietor and Employer
