Louis Marfell was actually Lewis Marfell born 18 Dec 1866, I have his birth certificate. He was always known as Louis, he had a son Louis and a grandson Louis. I have a photograph titled "Louis, Louis & Louis". Some of my photographs and information are from his great grandaughter, Pam Broviac who I have met and drove her and some of her family around the Forest of Dean, visiting graveyards - as you do !!

Lewis (Louis) Marfell married Sarah Ann Marshall 14 Sep 1884 Forest Church, I have the marriage certificate. The 1911 Census took place 2nd April 1911. Sarah Ann Marfell nee Marshall died 18 May 1911 and is buried Ruardean 21st May 1911.

I have the death certificates for Lewis (Louis) and Evangeline. On Evangeline's certificate (American) she is shown as the wife of Louis Marfell and her father is shown as Henry Roberts.

I have the date of marriage to Evangeline as 20 Jun 1911, but do not know where and as per my notes on the link provided by Slowhands - (growing grass and feet spring to mind).

Below are the notes for Louis on my Family Tree :
Free Miner, registered as Lewis Marfell age 21 The Pludds, 12.8.1887 ID 2145

Shown as Louis on 1881 & 1901 Census.

In the 1930 census Louis and Evangeline are living in LaSalle in the home of Talcott Barnes(who was born in Wisconsin). Louis is a gardener and Evangeline is a cook for the family.
In 1920 they are also living in LaSalle. They state that they both arrived in America in 1913. No children are living with them in either year.
