Thanks both for your replies. I came across someone on the Gloucestershire regiment website who had the same welcome home medal so assumed there may be a fair few around and thought it worth a note. I guessed the service records may have gone, as so many had done, I just thought there may be some local FOD knowledge with regard to the medal or a list of those to whom it was presented which may build up the story.
