Ancestry is worth using especially for finding unusual things, e.g. looking at ships' records to see when people travelled and to and from which ports, not just for emigration but also for when people went by ocean liner on holidays, cruises, ocean crossings. I've even found out what school one of my ancestors went to from it as well as finding the usual census material.
