Richard MOORFIELD and Elizabeth YARNALL, Tewkesbury (General)
Does anyone have access to the parish records at Tewkesbury, and could check if there are any additional details - witnesses etc - of the marriage of Richard Moorfield and Elizabeth Yarnall on 14/5/1823 (date from IGI).
I am trying to see if Richard belongs to my family tree. My ancestor was George Moorfield b1816 in Tewkesbury, parents William and Hannah nee Gooding/Goodwin. IGI has Richard's parents as William Moorfield and Susannah Goodwin......I suppose Hannah and Susannah are interchangeable. Marriage between William Moorfield and Hannah was in 1798, and from census records, Richard was born 1799/1800, but I have not been able to find a birth record.
This particular glitch in my family tree has been driving me nuts for the last three years, so any help would be mightily appreciated!

As Tewkesbury is well out side the boundaries of the Forest of Dean which this Web site specialises in, could you tell us if the people have any connection to the Forest. If so please mention that in your post, if not it would be better for you post your query with the Rootsweb Gloucester Mailing List.
I have changed the the subject of your post to a more appropriate one so people who are browsing through the postings have a good idea by looking at the subject what the contents of your post is about.

William Moorfield and Hannah Gooding/Goodwin married in Maisemore, and the Moorfield family originated in Norton.

Witnesses to the marriage were William MOORFIELD and Henry HOLDER

Thanks so much for that. Henry Holder seems to have been the Parish Clerk for Tewkesbury according to the 1841 census, so it seems that Richard's father may have been his witness, which is a bigger help than you can imagine.
William Moorfield of Chaceley married Hannah Gooding in 1798 in Maisemore, but the family disappear off the radar until the birth of George Moorfield in 1815. There are no earlier records in Tewkesbury, Maisemore, Norton or Chaceley and I have no idea where the family were living. So any snippets of information may help to fill my 17 year gap!
Thanks again

Thanks a lot for that, much appreciated.
I think Richard Moorfield's place of birth is actually shown as BUSHLEY on the raw data, and has been mistranscribed. However, I have a CD of the Bushley parish records and his birth is not recorded there.
I know this is "out of area" but if anyone needs lookups for Bushley, please let me know and I'll be happy to check. It is an unfortunate fact that families moved in and out of the Forest of Dean area, so threads can be lost.
Thanks again.
