Williams Family - St Briavels - 1600s (General)

I've managed to trace my ancestors back to the 1670s. The Williams family (one of them!) of St Briavels, has reached a dead end with the marriage of Richard Williams to Jane Nicholson in April 1672.

I would love to go back even further, but seem to have reached a dead end here. Have I reached the end of my quest, or can anyone shed any more light on these ancestors?

I have heard a story that the early ancestors originally came from Bristol and worked on the boats up the River Severn to Brockweir, where one day, they jumped ship and settled in/around St Briavels.

Anyway, if anyone has any further info, I'd love to hear it.

Many thanks for reading

Peter
