Richard Wood - Drybrook circa 1806 (General)

by pogle @, Wednesday, March 24, 2010, 16:14 (5437 days ago)

My ggGrandfather was Richard Wood. On the census records I have, his birthplace is Drybrook and he was born around 1806. He married in 1836 in Brecknockshire so had left the FOD area before the first census. Unfortunately, I don't have records of any siblings and there are a lot of Woods in the FOD forgive the intentional pun. I think his birth pre-dates the parish records of Drybrook which seem to start in the 18teens; I can't find anything in East Dean which is where I believe Drybrook came under prior to this date. Any ideas or information would be great.

Thanks.

Thank you very much again Slowhands. I found Richard on the 1841 and 1851 census and believe he passed away in 1858 although I haven't obtained the death cert for that one. I'll do some further research based upon the 1864 record you've found.

Hi Slowhands,

It just shows, you shouldn't just settle! You're right. the record below which shows Richard as a boarder is the one I'm looking for so he is not the one that passed away in 1858 as I had wrongly thought. I'm putting 2 and 2 together again here, but I'm more certain of this line. The family below is either correct as Curwin but I think more likely Cunvin; Richard married Elizabeth Cunvin in 1836 and a William Cunvin was Elizabeth's uncle - great stuff and thanks again.
