My grandmother was Emily Bullock born 1889 in Huntley. I am trying to trace my great grandmother's parents. She married James Bullock in 1882. In her marriage record her name is Emily Bullock, no father's name. My mother understood their mother was Mary Ann Sterry, children George & Emily, also that Emily's mother married a Sinderby but her two children were born before this. But I can't find any record of them.
What I can find is an Ann Bullock who had children George (b.1861) & Emily (b.1863) which would tie in with the marriage entry for 1882. In the 1861 census Emily & George were in Westbury Workhouse. I've also found baptism entries for both children but no father's name. Is there anyone from my grandmother's family, another Emily Bullock/Wood, who might know the answers? Your website is brilliant, by the way, I have made a donation for all the information it's given me.

Not sure if there are any previous links with this....
Looking at the 1891 census for Huntley, the STERRY/BULLOCK family are all living close together.

Thanks for the replies, there do seem to be a lot of links between these families and with Sinderby, & the same christian names seem to keep reappearing! The last 1991 census entry you have is my grandmother's family. My g g grandmother had a very good friend who died very soon after she did, I think it was a matter of weeks, I'm wondering if the names have got a bit mixed up over the years, Ann & Mary Ann perhaps. Is there any way of checking the deaths in a parish by date rather than name?

Ann BULLOCK / SINDERLEY 1842 -1906 Longhope
by ACP , Wednesday, April 14, 2010, 10:53 (5416 days ago) @ slowhands
Many thanks for your replies.I am sorting through to see what could connect with what I have already.
I have the following:
Year: 1920
Month: Oct
Day: 23
Surname: CINDERBY
Forenames: Ann
Residence: Little London Huntley
Age_at_death: 78
also I have found separate entries for marriage: Thomas Sinderby 1869 Apr May June Gloucester 6a 431
and Ann Bullock with the same date and ref. If they have the same refs. does this mean they were married to each other, or is it just a page ref and there could be other possibles?
I have also found grandchildren living with Ann Sinderby (widow) on the 1911 and 1901 censuses who have the same names as siblings of my grandmother.
I also managed to find another Ann Bullock with a Mother called Hannah! Just to confuse things.

Looks a better fit !!
typically there are two couples on each marriage sheet so they will share the same page./volume ref. - in this case it looks like this is the correct couple/marriage :-)
