Hi

Questions have been raised on past threads with regard to which Sophia Trigg married William Barnard. There has also been some debate as to whether the recorded death of Sophia was in the name of Barnett. See threads below.

I am in possession of the death certificate of Sophia Barnett based on the GRO Index Q4 1850 Westbury on Severn Vol 11 Page 372 which I think answers some of these questions and ties in with a few theories.

The certificate states that Sophia Barnett died aged 48 on the 1st of November 1850 at Plump Hill. She was the wife of William Barnett a quarryman. From this information, I think her age makes it unlikely that she was the Sophia Trigg who was baptised in December 1806 but that she was the Sophia Trigg baptised in July 1803. I also think that given the date of death, it is likely that Sophia Barnett and the Sophia Bennett mentioned in the Parish Records whose burial was on the 4th of November 1850 are one and the same. I hope this information is of some use to those researching Sophia Trigg and William Barnard.

Steve
