Joseph Parsons son of William, Born c. 1805/6 (General)
by unknown, Monday, May 03, 2010, 17:58 (5396 days ago)
I know that Joseph Parsons was born c. 1805/6 based on age of 46 in 1851 census although less reliably aged 30 in 1841 census - both entries in Redmarley. But no origin found in Redmarley for Joseph of any extended family.
Married 13 September 1827 to Caroline Hunt (d. of William & Eliz.) in Redmarley and again in 25 November 1841 to Julia Brookes. (Caroline died).
Father (not Father deceased) listed as William on 1841 marriage certificate but does not appear to have been living in Redmarley (not found in 1841 census).
Family seem to have taken up residence in a house within the Lowbands settlement (but not part of the designated Chartist properties) which is part of the Redmarley parish sometimes listed under Corse and/or Staunton).
I have checked through all the available FoD records with little help. I have searched most of generally available PR transcripts in the general area of Redmarley.
Can anyone help or suggest an avenue for further exploration - I would ideally like to find Jospeh's origin, baptism etc. ?

Maybe the age in the 1841 Census is the more accurate one (rounded off to the nearest 5 years). Distance from Redmarley to Maisemore is about 5 miles.

Joseph PERSON (Parsons) Maisemore 1813

Thanks for the suggestion and the input. I am fairly positive about Joseph's marriage in 1824 which would suggest that the groom was potentially 11 years old or 18 (if the 1851 census age is used ~ which seems more likely) but this suggests a baptism at 7 years of age. Regretably the maths doesn't work very well either way.
On a positive note I can look more widely using surname variants ~ so thanks any way. Regards LP

Person is a very common Scandinavian surname so it's worth bearing this in mind as it might be significant if it is not a transcription error.

I saw this message and was interested if you ever managed to get anywhere with tracing Joseph Parsons and his father William. Joseph is my 4th great grandfather and I have hit the same wall as you in trying to trace the Parsons family back. I am a descendant of William Parsons b 1832 (son of Caroline Hunt). If you do have any tips on tracing the family I would be very grateful

on FOD records - marriage at Redmarley 19 October 1831
there is a William POWELL of this parish, marrying Elizabeth HOLDER of this Parish by banns
mark of Joseph and Caroline PARSONS
on the 1841 census before Joseph PARSONS and his 3 children, there is
Elizabeth POWELL - 25
Mary - 8
Hester - 7
Margaret - 5
Harriet - 2
Sarah - 5 months
and above Elizabeth POWELL there is
Elizabeth HUNT - 65
Harriot HUNT - 20
Looking at FOD records, the childrens' parents are Elizabeth & William POWELL
