Hi, I'm afraid I can't help you much as I never knew him & Mum never told us much but here goes, Arthur married Freda Matilda Annie Meek in July 1931 & my mother was born in Oct 1931!!, They had two more sons in two years, the first Cyril (known as Jim) & Leslie, Freda died from blood poisoning after having Leslie she was only 21 & so Leslie was adopted out to Ida & Wilfred Parry who lived in Tetbury, Leslie changed his name to Parry, Ida may have been Arthurs sister. According to Mum Arthur was quite a mechanic & I think she said he worked for Walkleys in Cinderford.I dont know much about Arthurs second marriage although I did know he married someone called Cissy, I think I remember Mum mentioning a half Sister Margaret who she seemed quite close to. I have his birth, marriage & death certificate, it looks like he died from heart problems & on his death certificate he was listed as a steel turner. If you would like to view his family tree you can do this on ancestry.co.uk . Anything you can tell me about Arthurs second marriage would be great as I can fill this in on my family tree, also if you have any photos etc as I only have one which you can also see on ancestry. Hi, yes I think it is Alfred's wife although on their Daughter Freda's birth certificate she is listed as Thirza Cissy Brain formerly Trigg.

trouble is I can find no appropriate marriage for them.......

Hi Sherrie,
WOW..... amazing, i never realised any of this. Spoke to my Nan earlier (marjorie) and she tried to fill me in on a few things. She thinks she remembers you as a very young child as she was very close to Beryll, did your mum re-marry?. She lost contact with Beryll when she moved up to Nuneaton (Midlands) and was very upset when she found out she had passed away. Did'nt find out until quite recently or else she would of made the effort for the funeral. You mentioned Arthur working for walkleys but Nan remembers him working for Fielding and Platts in gloucester and being sent home from work poorly the night he died. To fill you in on the rest of the tree, Arthur married cissy bluette and had five more children, Marjorie, Elizibeth (Betty), Gerald, Patricia and valerie. They are all still going strong and most still live Cheltenham way. I asked my Nan of any photo's but she only has the one of her Mum and Dad with neighbours. Just to let you know my Mother Kay, is suposed to be the spitting image of Beryll. Hope you find this as facinating as i do. Brinley(firefly)

Hi Brinley, all this information is brilliant after so long not knowing anything, Mum did re-marry, she had a daughter by her first husband whose surname was Bale ( dont know his first name) the daughter was called Rita, she now lives in Mile End she married Roger Hall & they have a son called Andrew. Rita made contact with Mum several years before she died as Mum lost custody of her when she divorced & I was able to finally meet her on Mothers day of all days the year Mum died (2007). Mum met & married my Dad Anthony Hopson & she had three more daughters Lynn(1960) me(1963) & Kim(1965), I may have made a mistake about the name Margaret, It may have been Valerie she used to mention, Its all a bit fuzzy now. Mum was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1990 & although she had the all clear unfortunately it came back some years later & she died in Nov 2007. I have never met anyone who took so much suffering without ever complaining & I miss her dreadfully. You say your mother is supposed to be the spitting image of Mum I would love to see a photo if you have one & also I would love to see the photo of Arthur & Cissy. Please please keep in touch as this has opened up a whole new chapter to my family tree & I find it fascinating. Grateful thanks once again, Sherrie

Sherrie, How sad! at least they found each other in the end. My Nan just confirmed that it was Jack Bale who was the first husband from Victoria st/rd. She fondly remembers the Hopson family. I am trying to figure a way to show you the photo's, the one of Arthur and Cissy is quite fragile but i will try and upload it on my Computer. If you have a Facebook account you can either add me Brinley Mills from Nuneaton or my Mum Kay Elliott from Nuneaton as friends, at least you will be able to see a photo of mum. Hi Brinley, thanks for replying, I do have a facebook account so I will try and find your facebook page, I also have photos of Mum on my facebook page so if you want to have a look its Sherrie Ellis from Cinderford, another quirk of fate if you like is that you live in Nuneaton & Dads brother Brian & his family live not too far from you in Bulkington, small world eh!! I have downloaded all the information you gave me onto my ancestry.co.uk family tree, once again thanks very much its been a real revelation & I hope we speak again very soon. Sherrie
