Hi does anyone know where Waterloo, Lydbrookk was. My husband thinks it might have been situated at the bottom of Lydbrook where Fortge Row used to be??? Listed as Old Mill, Waterloo in Will.

Hi Sarah, Waterloo Mill stood at the junction of the Greathough and Lyd brooks, and worked as a corn mill from about 1815 until 1900, for most of that time by the Burdock family, although I suspect that you already knew that. Best Wishes, Mike Beacham

Waterloo Corn mill is in the Upper Lydbrook area ( well away from the Viaduct in Lower Lydbrook)between the tramway and the main road going down to the river

Arthur and Edward Colliery also known as Waterloo was nearby.

A Thomas BURDOCK was the miller there from approx 1851 - 1906

you can infer where it was if you look at the northern boundary of Barnedge Hill woods you will see a straight edge almost north / south , I believe this is the approx western edge of the Mill pond feeding the corn mill.
