WILLIAMS and SELBY families (General)
I am Rudi SELBY LIGTHERT, formerly of EVESHAM I now live in LYDBROOK.
My grandmother Janet WILLIAMS of the line from Richard WILLIAMS and Hannah READ married St Braivels 24.10.1794.
I hve seen in the blogs reference to Enoch SELBY, brother of Elizabeth SELBY b.1849/d.4.03.1936 who married Thomas WILLIAMS b.28.09.1851/d.26.05.1928.
Elizabeth SELBY was a daughter of SHADRACH SELBY (mason) seen on old photo on this site of Hewlesfield SELBY and HILL families. Shadrach SELBY is mentioned on the marriage certificate of Elizabeth and Thomas Williams at Hewlesfield Church 06.08.1875. The name Enoch reappears as Allen Enoch WILLIAMS bap ST B.20.04.1889, son of Thomas and Elizabeth. Enoch SELBY was therefore his uncle
Thomas and Elizabeth also had more daughters than shown in the Forest Parish Records, these were
1.Janet WILLIAMS my granmother.
2.Nellie WILLIAMS, married ? Jones, policeman in Blackwood Wales.
3.Nancy WILLIAMS (m.? HAWKINS>Marion HAWKINS mother of Nigel BYRD, remarried Harry ROWLANDS with Edwin and Elizabeth ROWLANDS of St B. resulting.
4.Emma Williams who married Frank TIMBREL (IL?) of Cheltenham who worked at NORMAN PRINTERS in Cheltenhan. (no children)
These St Braivels WILLIAMS worked at what is now LINDORS HOTEL and lived in MORK VILLA, MORK HOUSE and THE FENCE a road in Mork by LINDORS.
Thomas WILLIAMS 1851 looked after the electrical generator and batteries at LINDORS.
I am a little concerned as to the link of Richard WILLIAMS (who married Hannah READ in 1794) to his possible fore-fathers back to Richard WILLIAMS and Jane NICHOLAS (or NICHOLSON)as Richard WILLIAMS 1687 (married Rachel ROBERTS 1715) St Braivels has MARY not JANE as his mother at his baptism at St B. Perhaps someone can clarify how this appears in the WILLIAMS family tree with boxes shown in archives on this site. Whoever posted this I can fill in the dates and more information from Elizabeth and Richard's time.
I see a blog from someone in Somerset ref to SELBY family and also see photos from Sheila SELBY, perhaps they can add more to this thread or make contact?
