William Thomas Hatton LEWIS 1855 Lydbrook area (General)
Looking for information on William Thomas Hatton Lewis born abt 1855 to Elizabeth Ann Hatton - illegitimate, possibly known as Thomas Lewis.
I believe an Elizabeth Ann Hatton married James Lewis (2nd marriage for James, 1st wife unknown)1857. I am unsure if James Lewis was actual father but William seems to have taken his name. A Thomas Lewis married Annie Johnson 1876? child Oliver Lewis b 1887 who married Ethel Tamar Burton in 1910
William Thomas Hatton Lewis possibly had a connection with Worral Hill chapel.
I would appreciate any further information on any of the persons / families mentioned, even if it is just confirmation that my small snippet of information is correct!
Many thanks

William Thomas Hatton Lewis 1855
Do you have anymore information regarding Fred Lewis? I believe that he is my Great Grandfather and possibly got married to Elizabeth Childs. Possibly in Ross on Wye.
Fred LEWIS
Fred LEWIS is age 20 on the 1911 census (previous thread) with an Elizabeth age 19 who is probably his sister - will have to try and call up the full census for all information.
Can see from the 1911 census Summary - West Dean, Coleford, District 9 (Edge End Coleford - T Lewis has 2 males and 2 females and next door O LEWIS - with 1 male and 1 female.
I've called up the full 1911 Census for Edge End, Nr Colford, Glos
Thos. LEWIS - Head, 57, married 35 years, 4 children, Coal Miner, Hewer, born Gloucestershire, Lydbrook
Ann LEWIS - wife - born Glos. Edge End
Tom LEWIS - son - 26, single Labourer at Pit, born Edge End
Elizabeth LEWIS - daughter - 18 - born Glos. Edge End
living in 5 rooms
so no Fred at home!
next door
Oliver LEWIS - 23, married under 1 years - Haulier, born Glos. West Dean
Ethel LEWIS - 23 - born Glos. West Dean
living in 2 rooms

Frederick L LEWIS, mother's maiden name CHILDS - A/M/J Qtr 1921, Hereford, Shropshire
??
Marriage Oct/Nov/Dec 1909 - Hereford District
Frederick Stanley LEWIS and there is an Elizabeth Lilian CHILDS
Fred LEWIS
Frederick Stanley Lewis was my Great Grandfather and I believe he married Herefordshire to an Elizabeth Lillian Childs. My grandfather was Leslie Lewis.
Fred LEWIS
Put this marriage at the end of my reply
Leslie S LEWIS, - mother's maiden name CHILDS
J/F/M Qtr 1914, Hereford, District
Fred LEWIS
This is great. Thank you. I wasn't sure that this was my family but it seemed too coincidental. Do you know if there are any siblings listed for Leslie Lewis?
LEWIS/CHILDS
After 1911 (and on FreeBDM) - the mother's maiden name is added.....
Hence, if you search BDM - and Hereford District
you will find
LEWIS/CHILDS
Leslie S - J/F/M Qtr 1914
Ivy I - A/M/J Qtr 1915
(gap for the war!) - so may be records available if Fred went off to war!
Frederick L - A/M/J Qtr 1921
Denis L - O/N/S Qtr 1922
Fred LEWIS + Lizzie (+ Reginald) 1911
Here's your Fred, Lizzie and Reginald, just a few houses away from this parents
Fred Lewis, Edge End, Nr Coleford, Gloucestershire
Fred LEWIS - 25, married 4 years, Collier, born Gloucestershire, Edge End
Lizzie - 27 - born ditto
Reginald - son - 3 years
living in 2 rooms
Fred LEWIS + Lizzie (+ Reginald) 1911
Does this mean that there was another child before Leslie and Ivy?
Fred LEWIS + Lizzie (+ Reginald) 1911
I've clicked on your envelope - will send the actual 1911 census print-out if you want.
Fred & Lizzie say they've been married 4 years, in actual fact - the married in O/N/D Qtr 1909 - which helps with Reggie's age of 3 years?
Fred LEWIS + Lizzie (+ Reginald) 1911
Thanks this is helpful. Kind of helps link my family to Thomas Lewis and Elizabeth Hatton. The true interest I have now is tracing the history of James Lewis at the beginning of the 19th century.
