Jenkins Clearwell 1710 - 1780 (General)
The Bigland memorial transcriptions for Newland include Eleanor Jenkins wife of William Jenkins died 7th June 1768 aged 34
There is no local marriage between William and Eleanor around.
I believe they had three chldren Thomas and Richard x2, all infant deaths
Could the marriage have taken place outside of the FoD?
LDS has a possible marriage at Clifford on Wye 20th June 1755 between Eleanor Aubrey and William Jenkins.
I believe William had a 2nd wife follwing the death of Eleanor. I believe he married Elizabeth Doward our transcripts list the marriage taking place at Newland on 23 April 1764 (Before the death of Eleanor)
It is possible that there are three William Jenkins living in Clearwell about 1750.
Any help to resolve my problem would be appreciated
Kind Regards

Hi
Thanks for response.
I think this marriage is unlikely as the first born of the union was baptised in 1756 (Thomas). William and Eleanor Jenkins, parents, are residents of Clearwell.
My thoughts re Eleanor Aubrey are based around the Jenkins/Aubrey families and their interdependancies re Llanhithryd/Cowbridge.
Sir Leoline Jenkins 1630 to 1684 was a tutor to the Grandfather of Eleanor Aubrey.
I believe the Jenkins family migrated from Cowbridge to Clearwell with the Wyndham family of Southerdown. Francis Wyndham rebuilt Clearwell hall about 1715
Any comments on my thoughts would be most welcome.
Kind Regards

Hi Tony,
Did you get any further with this lineage? I've traced William Jenkins (married to Elizabeth Doward) but cannot find his parents - whom I believe to be Robert and Alice. If you have more information I'd love to know more.

There are quite a number of Public Members Trees on Ancestry - with William JENKINS marrying Eleanor AUBREY - Clifford Hay on Wye, Herefordshire, - 20 June 1755 aged 22.
Many of them give the parents of William JENKINS c 1733 as
Guilliam Aka William JENKINS and (1707-1780) and Elizabeth PRITCHARD (1699-1790) - and go back even further…..
Guilliam Aka William JENKINS - born 19 Sept 1707 Glos - parents, Evan JENKINS (1679-1734) and Anna COOK - 1687-1758) - and back even further…….
There is where Wills sometimes solve these theories.

@ MPGrffiths - thanks! This merits more exploration....this is a new world to me, so my next step it would seem is to order Wills to cross reference?
Thanks,Hilary

Like many researchers Wills have proved invaluable if one is lucky enough to find them.
