Hi Mp:)
Thanks for replying
Just clutching at straws re this John Hare(Haire)
Im in Australia and my ggrandfather was john Hare born 1817 somewhere in England
Ive looked thru family search and censuses re him, and as he was here in by 1851, came here in 1848, and cant locate a marriage here or in england with him and a clarissa stone, she was born 1826 in winterslow wiltshire, came here 6 months later than him
sooooo going thru all john hares in england born around 1817, there for 1841 census but in australia by 1851 census
just found a marriage on here for a john hare from tibberton in 1840 to a elizabeth daw..his father was george
and found a death in bristol in 1841 for an elizabeth hare
soooo im wondering if this is my john hare as i cant locate them anywhere on censuses , he or elizabeth, and often wondered was he married before he came out from england to aus as he was 31 when he came here
guess im looking for someone who is researching this family
cheers

try using the Advance Search for witnesses only - and type in the name HARE - and see what turns up - can see there is also an O'Hare as a witness.
My Burial Index has a John HARE - 1 November 1840 - age 81, Gloucester St Catherine
?
Marriage CLDS
John HARE married Catharine HANCOX - 25 April 1795 - Bockleton, Worcester
also check the Gloucestershire BDM for information

John Newton HAIR
Cath
Family names and middle SURNAME names are quite a clue to work on. I have 4 grandsons/2 granddaughters with family names and some with middle family SURNAMES which have been in the family for generations.
For example
There is a death - A/M/J Qtr 1845, Gloucester
John Newton HAIR
age: 52, Gloucester St Nicholas
John Newton HAIR

HARE/HAYWARD
When John HARE married Elizabeth DAW at Tibberton - 15 June 1840
the witnesses were Henry BEVAN and Caroline BEVVAN
This couple married at Tibberton 6 September 1838 and one of the witnesses was William HARE - who was christened at Tibberton in 1814.
Another brother of John HARE - Charles HARE born 1825 at Tibberton, has a child christened at Tibberton - 21 December 1847
Mary Ann HAYWARD HARE - parents Charles (labourer) and Caroline
So Charles was still in the country up 'til 1847
then we have the 1851 census for Churcham, Gloucestershire
Charles HAYWARD - 24 - born Tibberton
Caroline HAYWARD - 22 - born Tibberton
Mary A HAYWARD - 3 - both born Churcham (mother's maiden name GREGORY)
Charles HAYWARD - 7
Mary A GREGORY, visitor age 11 - born Hucclecote? Gloucestershire
Gloucestershire BDM
Charles HAYWARD married Caroline GREGORY, 1847, Corse St Margaret, Gloucestershire
and then we have ...
1841 Census, Tibberton, Cottage
George HAYWARD - 55 - born in County
Catherine HAYWARD - 55 - born in County
On the 1851 Census, for Tibberton
either side of two BEVAN families is
George HAYWARD - 70 - born Longney, Gloucs
Catherine - 61 born Callicent? Monmouthshire
1861 Census, Tibberton
Church House
George HAYWARD - 79 Ag. Lab. born Longney Glos
Catherine HAYWARD - 79 born Glamorgan, Newport
Charles GOODE - Lodger, Widower, age 27, Carter, born Churcham, Glos
---
George HAYWARD is on the 1871 census at Tibberton (Almhouses) - transcribed as age 35, but is 85, born Longhope.
----
There are a couple of HEARE baptisms around that time at Longney, parents Richard & Sarah
--
This may 'cancel out' your John
1861 Census, Bulley
John HAYWARD - 43 - born Tibberton (HARWOOD on the 1851 census, age 40 - born Glos. N.K. wife Eliza)
Jane 19 - born Taynton (mother's maiden name DAW - Gloucestershire BDM)
Henry - 11 - born Newent (ditto)
Mary - 9 - born Newent (ditto)
HARE/HAYWARD
GDAY again mp:)
Thanks for all that info u sent
I did find a death on freebmd for a Elizabeth Hare in 1841 in Bristol Gloucester , i wondered if it was john Hares wife, who he married in 1840
and subsequently been unable to locate him on 1851 plus censuses or a death for him on freebmd that might fit him
Soooo i guess it makes me wonder even more if its my john hare who came to aus in 1848, age fits,,and he travelled here alone aged 32, and next county is Wiltshire, where his wife , tho cant find a marriage for him was born
and he did have children charles and george too
All very interesting!
Regards
Cathy:)
and thanks so much for your help re this one
