HAWKINS/JENKINS _Burial and Baptism (General)

by travid @, Sunday, August 28, 2011, 21:12 (4889 days ago)

I've think that just found the burial of my g_g grandmother Elizabeth Hawkins in 1917 at St Johns Church wife Richard Hawkins. Have I the right person?

I also have found a baptism for a Elizabeth Jenkins in 1845, father Henry and mother Hane. Is this right? or is HANE the mother surname, as my Elizabeth on the 1851 census parents are Henry & Jane.

On reflection I suspect you might think that the question is somewhat hard for us to answer !

Hello there,
I have in my wife's family tree a connection which may assist in your query.
Richard Hawkins was a lodger with Elizabeth Townley the widow of Samuel Townley 1844-1884 in the 1891 census.Richard was a widower having previously been married to Jeanette ? a lady from Newport.Mon. as per the 1881 census,Jeanette died in 1886.It is noted in the 1891 census a Richard Townley aged 4.In 1892 Richard senior marries Elizabeth Townley and in the 1901 census Richard junior is recognised as Hawkins, the remainder of the Townley children remain Townley's.
My wife's connection is that William Townley was married to Alice Hart who were her Grandparents.
Elizabeth Townley was a Jenkins before she married Samuel Townley in 1879,living in Cinderford but born in Coleford to Henry Jenkins a Cordwainer/shoemaker in 1845.

Thank you so much maurice,

We are therefore related as William Townley is the brother to my great grandmother Jane [Charlotte] Townley.

It is TOWNLEY side I'm researching but it hard going as my grandfather William, the son of Charlotte was killed in 1946 when my father was only 6 months old.

hope you stay in touch

Hello again travid,it is interesting to know more about my wife's family. It is some while since I last did research on the Townleys but traced them back to 1781 in Notgrove near Stow on the Wold,Glos.I had never followed Charlotte Jane's line as at that time I was more engrossed with my own family tree which is quite extensive. It would be good to keep in touch and we may be able to enlarge our trees with each other's help.Perhaps we could e mail each other directly if this is more convenient.
regards Maurice.
