HAINE m. PREEST 1919 Lydney (General)
Hello, I have just discovered this wonderful forum. I have been investigating my family tree, but there are several, headscratching gaps.
Most of the mystery surrounds my great-grandfather, Albert HAINE (born abt 1868). On 29th Jan, 1919, he married Georgina PREEST at the Baptist Chapel in Lydney. Albert was 52 and Georgina was 25. By my calcuations, she was already several months pregnant with my grandmother at the time of the wedding.
Albert's father is listed on the marriage cetificate as Fred HAINE (deceased). Fred's occupation was farmer, and Albert's was Farm Bailiff. Georgina's father was Henry Thomas PREEST, a Coal Hewer. Both Georgina (occ. General Servant) and Albert had the same address listed on the wedding certificate: Close Turf, St Briavels. I'm guessing she was in service there? And that's where they met?
However, I can find no birth records for Albert HAINE, nor for Fred HAINE. Also, I cannot find any census records at all for Albert HAINE, Fred HAINE nor Georgina PREEST. Does anyone have any information that could help me?
With thanks
Donna

Thank you Carol. I'm curious about the public house and Eliza Skipp in Breams Eaves in 1911. Would you be happy to share further the information you have about the pub? I'd be so grateful (and happy to reciprocate of course, if there is anything I can help you with).
Best

HAINE m. PREEST 1919 Lydney
My only information regarding eliza skipp is taken from the 1911 census sorry. However I have a long line and a lot of very interesting Aston information if you would like to know about it. Why dont you email me. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Albert HAINE Close Turf Farm, St Briavel's
Hello
it's been a while since I've been on the forum. I thought I might be worth posting again. My great-grandmother, Georgina PREEST married Albert HAINE on 29th January 1919 at the Baptist Chapel in Lydney. I've happily been able to find out quite a bit about the Preests, but I have drawn an absolute blank on Albert. I have their marriage certificate. They were both resident at Close Turf, St Briavel's at the time of the wedding. Albert's father, Fred HAINE (deceased) was a Farmer. The marriage was witnessed by Sam WILDIN and Flossie LEWIS. Any information about Albert (who is a complete mystery!) much welcomed.
Thank you.
