I didn't think that anyone could tell me anything about the Marfell family, so thank you M P Griffiths I had William Robins 1702 in my Family Tree as he married Mary Marfell 1704/1775 at Walford 6 Feb 1734. I had not previously noted his siblings, or parents.
Mary was baptised 11 Jun 1704. You will find it difficult to find using the web site Parish Records as the soundex does not pick out all the possible spelling of Marfell. In fairness the family did start out in the 1500's as Moorfield and I have encountered various spellings since, but the "Family" is now Marfell, so I have rationalised all spellings as Marfell. Mary's parents were John Marfell 1676/1742 & Susanna Smith 1672/1758 married 4 Nov 1699 8 children. The information is on the Ruardean BT's of which I have a copy using the name Mourfield.
John Marfell 1676/1742 was the son of William Marfell 1653/1708 & Mary Yearsley 1653/1712 - married 30 Sep 1676 - 4 children.
I have copied below the will of John Marfell 1676/1742 from you will see other variations of the name, but significantly for you, daughter Mary Robins (who is of course nee Marfell)is mentioned, receiving One Shilling :
Will :
The Condicon of this obligation is such that if the above bound JOHN MOREFIELD lawful and natural son and administrator of all and singular the goods chattells and xxxx of MARY MOREFIELD late of Ruardean widow deceased do make or cause to be made a xxx and perfect inventory of all and singular the goods chattells and xxxx of the said deceased which have or shall come to the hands possession or knowledge of him the said JOHN MOREFIELD or into the hands and possession of any person or persons for him and the same so made does prohibit or cause to be prohibited into the registry of Glous at or before the last day of April next ensuing and the samne goods chattells and xxxx and all other the goods chattells and xxxx of the said deceased at the time of her death which at any time after shall come to the hands or possession of the said JOHN MOREFIELD or into the hands and possession of any other person or persons for him xxxx and truly administer according to law and further do make and cause to be made a true and xxxx of his so xxxx at or before the last day of February next and all the rest and residue of the said goods chattells and xxxx which shall be found remaining upon the said administrators xxxx the same being first examined and allowed of by the Judge or Judges for the time being of the said court shall deliver and pay unto such person or persons xxxx as the said Judge or Judges, by his or their xxxx or xxxx xxxx to the true intent and meaning of a late Act of Parliament made in the two and twentieth and three and twentieth of the reign of our late Sovereign Lord King Charles the second (Instituted an Act for the better settling of Intestates Estates) shall limit and appoint and if it shall hereafter that any last will and testament was made by the said deceased and the Executor or Executors therein named do xxxx the same into the said court making request to have it allowed and approved accordingly, if the said JOHN MOREFIELD above bound being thereunto required do xxxx and deliver the said xxxx of Admon (xxxx of such Testament being first heard and made) in the said court then this obligation to be void and of none effect or else to remain in full force and xxxx.

John Marfell 1676

OK so now I am more confused than usual.
Here we have John Marfell (Moorefield in the PRs) marrying Susanna Smith in Walford in 1699, but there's another possible John Marfell (Morfilde in the PRs) who marries Joane Jones in Ruardean in 1707 (2 children I am aware of: Jonathan 1707 and William 1710).
Where does this second family fit into the wider Marfell picture (if at all) ??
Regards
-Colin

I am surprised that you are confused by 2 John Marfell's whatever the spelling, I have 57 John Marfell's in my Family Tree.
My Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great Grandfather John Marfell 1685/1744 who married Joan Jones 1685/1730 on 7 Feb 1706 was the son of John Marfell 1659/1711 & Elizabeth Tailor. This John Marfell 1659 was the brother of William Marfell 1653/1708 the father of John Marfell 1676/1742, my 1st cousin 8 times removed. This John Marfell was the father of Mary Marfell, who married William Robins, the reason for this thread.
John Marfell 1685/1744 and Joan Jones 1685/1730 had 7 children, including 2 Williams who died around 1 year old.

Have you carried out any research into the Terrett family. The closest (by era) I have to the Elizabeth Terrett who married Joseph Robins is a George Terrett about 1774 who had a son Thomas Terrett 1799 - again not the right period to have been the Thomas Terrett witness at Joseph Robins marriage, but names tend to run in families.
George Terrett abt. 1774 married my 1st cousin 6 times removed Mary Thompson 1774, daughter of Mary Bennett and it is the Bennett family which causes my relationship, due to a marriage between Jane Bennett 1771 & John Marfell 1762 - yes another John Marfell. John Marfell 1762 & Jane Bennett were one of my my 4 times Great Grandparents.
