Meaning of the name Redvers (General)

Hi, I saw you question and wanted to let you know that I have a little 6yr old called Redvers named after my husbands grandfather, coincidentally my managers new nephews middle name is also Redvers, all this is west Wales! I was told that it was an Anglo Saxon name meaning the man from the red ford similar to radford? As far as I know the name has been passed down at least the last 3 generations? Not sure where from originally.
