I am interested in the circumstances of her death as she may have been murdered although this information has not been confirmed. Be great to speak with anyone who may have remembered the incident.

Hi,
I don't know Slowhands personally, but it's possible he isn't a relation. He is this site's moderator/head guru and has written many similar tributes on this forum to those Foresters who gave their lives in wartime. However I have a sneaking suspicion based on his posts that Slowhands may have links to Ruardean, altho he does have a wealth of knowledge about all of the Forest.
Re your Luke Wilce, I know Wilce is a prominent name in the Forest including my home town Cinderford, but was your Luke a member of Lydbrook Parish Council in the 1930s ?. If so then have you seen this History of Lydbrook article which mentions him ? I see in our photos section an earlier Luke Wilce of Lydbrook who was perhaps his ancestor.

Re the young death of Mabel Wilce, if you are locally-based I strongly recommend you search the old "DF Mercury" archive held in Cinderford Library, unlike the Citizen for example this newspaper's not available online yet. See this prior thread

Hope this helps, J
