I am searching for information on Thomas Thackwell please and his wife Winifred. From the date of birth details of their children (Elzabeth 1752, Mary 1754, Ann 1757 and Thomas 1760) the family lived in Longhope. Winifred Thackwell died in 1783 at Abenhall. Many thanks.

Searching Thackwell Marriage ? - Phillimore books online

Hi,
just to say I've searched the old Phillimores Marriages records hoping to find their Marriage within the Michel Dean or Huntley Parish sections, but sadly no luck, sorry.

However thought it might be worth posting links to these useful free websites for the various Phillimore's Books which are still available.

Volume 9, includes Michel Dean (1680-1812)
http://ukga.org/cgi-bin/browse.cgi?action=ViewRec&DB=8&bookID=37&page=137

Also some other Gloucestershire Volumes can be read on this great site (search the site for Glos or Dean etc, lots of other good stuff too); sadly only a few Dean Parishes are included within the available Phillimores, eg Michel Dean and Huntley.
Volume 16, includes Huntley (1583-1837) starting here

Also available are Severnside parishes such as Alvington & Maisemore, see this "index" page to the complete original series of books.

As far as I'm aware only SOME of the listed Volumes are available f-o-c online, altho as I've lost all my reference data & transcripts I may be wrong. Those available definitely include vols 4,6,8,15 and 16 on the above "archive.org" site, also 9 as first link, and Vol 14 (Maisemore etc) http://parishroots.co.uk/tag/maisemore-marriages/

Alternatively they can be bought in cd format altho prices vary enormously !

Thank you Jeff and Administrator for the information on the Thackwells. Also, I had not come across the Phillimore books before so that is a great revelation! Thanks again.

Phillimore books etc online

You're very welcome indeed, pleased to be of some help, I do hope you're able to find more details about your ancestors. I think the Phillimore books were one of the earlier attempts to pull together Parish Registers into central volumes, they're certainly worth looking up. Background here http://www.parishrecord.co.uk/wpp.php

The general websites I mentioned also include other interesting old publications about our area, eg "Glostershire Notes" carries many PRs among other interesting social history articles, see this post for info, stoopidly I couldn't find it yesterday so pardon my duplication re Phillimore books.
