by Canuck @, Tuesday, September 03, 2019, 04:23 (1944 days ago)

Mary ASHTON, Jim's wife has asked me to let his friends and contacts on the FOD forum that he passed away at home on the 24th of August 2019 after a battle with cancer.

He researched the lives of people in the Forest for many years and shared his information freely.

Sad news indeed.

Jim was a fount of knowledge - not just relating to his main interest - the Marfell family - but to all other family lines with even the slightest link to his interests.

We were distantly related through Marfell, Meek and other family lines - but that probably applies to many with roots in the Drybrook and Ruardean areas of the Forest.
His knowledge supported and extended my research in many ways.

My condolences to his family.
