Bennett Family from the Nailbridge area (General)
by Karl Lamb, Friday, March 04, 2005, 08:22 (7196 days ago)
Hi
Looking for assistance with the Bennett Family from the Nailbridge area. I have my great grandmother, Teresa Bennett (b 1861, d 1903) who married William Hale (b 1854 d 1932) at Nailbridge in 1884.
James Bennett was Teresa's father and a collier by profession. I believe he also had a son Thomas, who married Elizabeth Gammond in Chepstow in 1890. He probably also had another son R Bennett too.
I have hit a brick wall on further information about James, his parents, and other relatives - any help appreciated.
Thanks
Karl Lamb

BENNETT -filling some gaps

I have found this (along with the Clancy/Claney post)has helped confirm a few things. Thank you.
I am interested in Eva Bennett (born abt 1883). Her father was William Bennett but I have been unable to find out anything about her mother. I have searched the Catherine House index to find Eva's birth without success. If she was born in Lydbrook (thats assuming the information given on the census returns are correct) where would her birth be registered?

If possible could you elaborate on this please.
The 1891 Census Has Catherine down as the wife of James Bennett her age is given as 59. Eva is down as G Child with her age being given as 8.
Eva Bennetts marriage certificate (to Herbert Stanley Bulcock 18th September 1905 Blackburn Register Office, Lancashire) gives her father as William (Catherine's son born abt 1861).

Thank you. I am starting to get the horrible feeling that I may have spent the last year chasing after the wrong Eva. Looks like I will have to wait for the release of the 1911 Census to clear things up.

Can I just say a massive thank you for everyone who has pulled this detail together.
My name is Craig Cooper, my Grandmother is Lillian May Creed who was the daughter of Lillian (Lillie on the 1901 Cencus) Lillie was the sister of Eva, Lottie, and Andrew Hale who died Thomas Andrew Hale.
My Grandmother always believed that Andrew was adopted by a family called Lamb, who she believed was a Lord and Lady and owned a Manor House in Wales.
Everything I have found myself and that you have recorded here seems to match up although not sure on the Lord and Lady status.
Thanks again, happy to share anything I have found if needed.
Many thanks Craig

Thomas Andrew Hale and LAMB
by CraigCooper, Saturday, September 04, 2010, 10:46 (5186 days ago) @ slowhands
Hi,
I wonder if you can help.
It would appear that Thomas Andrew Hale (1899) died as Thomas Andrew Lamb and I think is linked to the Lamb family reading numerous threads on here.
My Grandmother Lillian May Creed (1916) believes that Thomas (or Andrew as he seemed to be known) was adopted by the Lambs in a Manor House (Assume Harthill Grange) however, I can not see any evidence of this apart from his death records which show him under the Lamb family.
Have you come across any information that might shed light on this?
Many thanks,
Craig
