Orchard house (or cottage) Cinderford (General)
My grandfather William Thomas Jones kept an ironmongers in Cinderford from approx.1903-1922. My cousin visited last year & managed to work out that the shop was probably where Lidl's is now. I believe the family lived in a house called "Orchard House" I was taken there as a child in the '50's by my Father who to his surprise found a cousin living there. What I would like to know does this house still exist? I realise it is a long shot Many thanks Helen ( My Father recalled Young's bakery - as in Jimmy- also Mundys the barbers)

Hi Fleur
Slowhands is right. This is a new build, comparatively speaking, 80s/90/s.
If you want to contact me directly I can give you a little bit of info about Jimmy Young and Mundays the Barber. Sorry I cannot help you with Orchard House.

The ironmongers shop where Lidls now stands [approx] was formerly Edwards & sons and before that I believe Merricks at about the time you mention.
