Younger as a first name (General)

Hi
Has anyone come across "Younger" as a first name?
This apparently was the name of my G-G-G-G-grandfather(surname JONES) who married Mary WEBB at Awre on Jan.1st 1714
It may have been a nickname, though with a name like JONES he could well have been Welsh.
His sons were called Elijah(1722) and Ezekiel(1724) and his daughter Esther(1720).
