I wonder if it was taken around the time of the miners strike in 1926 ?
Charlie Mason, was a Methodist, and was a left-wing member of the Labour Party, a member of East Dean
Rural District Council and a fervent union supporter. His compassion for the locked-out miner meant
that he constantly pressured the Westbury Board of Guardians to supply poor relief to the miners,
telling them not only to preach the principle of brotherhood but to practise it as well.

My name is Ann Marshall and I live near Stroud in Gloucestershire. I find your
website very interesting and informative, when I show it to my father-in-law he
enjoys identifying people and places from his past.
I thought you might find this photo of interest and possibly use it on your web
site. It was given to me by my father-in-law Herbert (Bert) Marshall, who's
father is on the photo as H Marshall (Herbert), he's the one with the dickey bow
tie.
F (Fred) Young on the photo was Bert's uncle (His mums brother) and O Marshall
(sec) Oliver was his dads brother. Some of the men on the photo did not have
ties to wear so they were drawn on by the photographer afterwards.
As a matter of interest, Bert (my father-in-law) was the last landlord of the
Crown (Hawthorns) when it closed in the 1970's.
