Relationship Chart (General)
Confused about who is your first or second cousin and what all that removed business means?
A first cousin is someone who shares two of the same grandparents as you. A second cousin is
someone who shares the same great-grandparents as you. And on down the line. I'm sure that many
members are 8th or 9th cousins.
This Removed business means that you and your relative are from different generations. For example,
my father's first cousin is my first cousin, once removed. My grandfather's first cousin is my
first cousin, twice removed.
Take a look at the Relationship Chart which is in our Miscellaneous Documents Section and work out
your relationships.

Unfortunately I get Error 404: Not found when I click this link to the Relationship Chart. I am trying to look for a chart/diagram I'm sure I saw on the FOD site a while ago clearly explaining the relationship of cousins. Can anyone help please?

Brilliant, thank you Forest. That explains it... and more! I wasn't sure if it was the cousins or the chart who were once removed!
