Nailbridge Pub (General)
When I visited the Forest in 1962 a pub in Nailbridge was pointed out to me as a place frequented by family members in previous times. When I visited again in 1997 the buiding was gone and I was told that it had been taken down to allow road improvements. Can anyone place this pub and remember its name?

Railway Inn
The Railway Inn was demolished to make way for road widening and the site is now a traffic light junction. Intriguingly the area is known locally as 'Dunk’s corner’, or Dunkley’s Corner. This must be a reference to the landlord of the pub in late Victorian times - Albert Dunkley. The Railway Inn, according to local historian John Christian, 'stood at the top of an unkempt grassy bank. It was a gaunt unadorned building of grey, unpainted roughcast with a short-back-and-sides slate roof.’

Railway Inn Nailbridge.
A little more onformation on Landlord Albert Dunckley.
He was the licensee in July 1901. He was mentioned in the Citizen of that date, taking James Williams to court. (Littledean Petty sessions). James may be my Grandfather.
