Did Granddad have any siblings? Oh yes! Mum thinks he was one of 15 sprogs. She can remember Hetty, Marina, Ann, Edward, Glyn, Thomas, William, Sidney, Dai & my Granddad Daniel. Unfortunately she doesn't know what order they were born in. I have tried looking them up in FreeBMD but got no joy. The only other thing I know is that Richard was killed by a runaway coal truck sometime around 1925-27. I think the miners were on strike (?) and Richard and son Teddy were out picking up coal to fill their hearth. Teddy shouted a warning but his Dad did not hear him. I read up on the history of Maerdy and it was only a small hamlet before they sunk the first shaft in 1876. The area was eventually home to 6,500 miners - which is why I don't think Richard was born there. Would be grateful for any help!
