Help with Translation Please (General)

Hi There

I have an entry in the 1851 Wales Census that gives this place as birthplace:

Where born: Himmeidg, Gloucestershire, England

Can a member please tell me if this is the name of a town or village or just a translation error. I can find no clue to this place.

Thanks in advance.

James Upton abt 1784 Himmeidg, Gloucestershire, England Head Trevethin Monmouthshire

crackin' !!

I'm trying to work out the phonetics here " image" ? to see what might have been said, heard and then recorded.

A guess would be Wotton under Edge, which pronounced by a local tends to sound like "ooton" followed by "edge" so "oot on edge" might be recorded in Wales.

In 1851 the UPTON's of Gloucestershire seem to come from Winterbourne Bristol, which is close to Frenchay, the place nearby that might then fit would be Latteridge nr Iron Acton.

What about Hempstead, Gloucester City? or Highnam? Or - found two James Hopton's born in Slimbridge. One christened 24/12/1778 (parents William & Ann) one christened 9/10/1790 (parents James and Elizabeth).
