Married Joanna Smith 12/12.1798 in Bristol. Both are buried in Hewelsfield churchyard (A55 & A56 GlosFHS M.I's). Described as of Harthill Court. Joanna d.1838 aged 80 yrs (F0D transcripts have her as Johnson)and Samuel according to death cert was 74 years in 8/12/1847.
According to will has 3 children. Nancy bz Woolaston 1799 (m Thomas Niblett),
Elizabeth married James Pritchard and Thomas marries Hannah Matthews 1813 in English Bicknor with parents consent.
The 1841 census has Samuel at Arkils Court (he lived Harthill Court)aged 55!!
In his will of 1847 he leaves a house and land called the Bayles and one called arthill (sic) Barn. Can anyone identify these?
The census has "n" on born in county and a tick for born in foreign parts. Others on same page have I for Ireland and S for Scotland. Any advice on how to proceed with this line?

I think what the tick is , is just confirmation of an out of county "person" when the statistics from the census data were compiled - a simple mark to confirm his entry had been counted.
